Cherri Stocks is a free educational paper trading app. No real money is ever involved. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
1. Who We Are
Cherri Stocks is a free educational stock market simulator designed to help students and beginners learn how to invest. The app is operated independently and is not affiliated with any financial institution, brokerage, or investment firm.
2. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect:
- Username — chosen by you, used to identify your account
- Display name — your first and last name as entered
- Password — stored as a hashed value, never in plain text
- App data — your virtual portfolio, watchlist, trade history, lesson progress and XP. All of this is paper trading data with no real monetary value.
We do not collect your email address, phone number, payment information, real financial data, or any personally identifiable information beyond what is listed above.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used solely to:
- Allow you to log in and access your account from any device
- Save your virtual portfolio, watchlist, and lesson progress
- Track your learning streaks and XP across sessions
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Data Storage
Your account data is stored in the Cherri Stocks application database. Passwords are hashed on the server, and saved portfolio data is returned only when a valid session token is provided.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
Cherri Stocks uses your browser's localStorage to store your login session and app preferences locally on your device. This means you stay logged in between visits without needing to re-enter your password. No third-party tracking cookies are used.
6. Third-Party Services
Cherri Stocks uses the following third-party services:
- Cherri Stocks database — account storage, virtual portfolio data, watchlist data, trade history, and lesson progress.
- Polygon.io / Massive.com — delayed stock price data. No personal data is shared with this service.
- Google Fonts — font loading. Google may collect limited usage data per their privacy policy.
- Netlify — website hosting. Netlify may log standard server access data (IP addresses, page requests).
7. Children's Privacy
Cherri Stocks is designed as an educational tool suitable for students of all ages. We do not knowingly collect any sensitive personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please use the app in Guest mode or with parental supervision.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — all your data is visible inside the app
- Delete your data — use the "Reset Account" button in Portfolio to clear your trading data
- Guest mode — use the app without creating an account at any time
